Meal Reel for Wednesday and Thursday

Hey! How’s it going? Less than a week until I’m on vacation! Woot Woot!!

So the fam has been busy the past couple days. We had a surprise dinner with Todd’s cousin Thursday evening. He was in town working with the Texan’s and had time to come and visit. My dinner plan for slow cooker beef tacos was placed in the fridge for Thursday, so no biggie. That’s the beauty of slow cooker meals. It’s ready when you are.

Here is my meal reel for Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday for breakfast was two protein cookies and a chocolate protein shake with banana and almond milk. Todd fixed the shake and I think he added flax meal and wheat germ in it too. The pic only has one cookie because I ate the other one when I got home after bootcamp. I was STARVING!!(say this in a Chris Farley voice.)

Notice the little paw in the picture. That’s my cat, Skywalker. He was a curious kitty and wanted to get in on the action.

Lunch was my at my desk at the hospital as usual. I packed wraps with hummus and veggies. For my sides I had a Greek yogurt and strawberries/blueberries. I drank hot green tea with lunch. My office is so cold. They seem to want to treat everyone with a hypothermia protocol.

Dinner plans changed. (Of course.) For dinner we ended up at a place called BJ’s Brewery to meet Todd’s cousin, Andrew. A Great out-of-the-ordinary surprise!  He was traveling for business from Minnesota.  I enjoyed a refreshing Berry Cider and Thai Mango Chicken Salad.  It was off their “light” menu. It was a good portion and had great flavor. Of course, the cider was not on the “light” menu. 1 out of 2 ain’t bad. The kids went with spaghetti and applesauce. But what bugged me was I usually let them have a soda on occasion. So, without hesitation they both ordered Root Beer. Normal routine would be to then switch to water after the first drink. What ticked me off was that the waitress automatically brought ANOTHER root beer. Ugh, now what….This is what really irks me. No wonder there is a child obesity problem. One simple allowance turns into two servings of empty calories. Guess I will make my preference known to the waiter beforehand next time we go out.  Otherwise, dinner was great and we really had a great time visiting with Andrew.

Thursday was exciting. The house was a flutter with plans for Addison’s play. She has participated in an acting camp all week and they are putting on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today. Her two cousins are performing as well. Addison is playing the role of a Oompa Loompa! Fun times! So proud of my budding actress!

Breakfast today was half a grapefruit, cashews and a protein cookie.

Lunch was a big greens salad with lots of extra veggies and tuna. Blueberry yogurt and blueberries for my extras.

Dinner tonight was slow-cooker chile beef tacos. I love slow cooker meals. I ate 2 tacos with beef, nonfat refried beans, tomato,onions, cilantro and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt. MAN, this was good. My niece and nephew hung out with us and I even got a compliment from my soon to be 13-year-old nephew. It blew me away!
